Experience
It’s so easy for wedding planning to become an all-consuming, anxiety inducing, headache. After all, the vast majority of us have little experience in organising big events with multiple components, let alone ones where everyone we care about is going to be in the same place!
I absolutely don’t want your cake to become part of that headache, so I am to make the process of booking and designing your cake as simple as possible, with as much or as little involvement as you’d like.
What I can guarantee is at the end of the experience, you will have a cake perfectly designed for your day, reflecting you both as a couple.
Get in touch
Once you’ve confirmed your date and booked your venue, get in touch to check my availability. I often take bookings two years in advance, only create a maximum of two cakes each week, and my diary fills up quickly, particularly in the summer months.
Once I’ve confirmed I’m available, if you’d like to learn more, we can have an initial chat and I can give you a rough guide to size and price. If you’d like to try some cake before committing, you can order a sample box, more details of which can be found here.
If you’ve decided that I’m the cake designer for you, then let’s get you booked in! I take a £100 deposit to secure your date in my diary, so once that’s paid, you’re all set.
Design your perfect cake
Six months before your wedding date, I will get in touch to arrange for you to come and see me in Chester for your design and tasting consultation - often referred to by couples as, ‘our favourite bit of wedding planning’!
You can try your choice of five flavours from my menu and choose your favourites, not forgetting you can have a different flavour on every tier, if that’s what you’d like. We’ll have a really good chat through all your plans for your wedding day - how it’s going to look, what you’re going to be doing and any details you’d like to reference in your cake. It’s really helpful if you bring things like fabric samples, stationery, Pinterest boards, etc with you, as they all help with the discussion.
While you’re with me, I’ll do a quick pencil sketch of your design to check I’m on the right track, which I’ll then convert into a digital sketch, sent to you with an order form detailing everything we’ve discussed, including your chosen flavours, cake size and a firm price.
Sit back and relax
If you’re happy with your sketch and order form, you really can sit back, relax and leave everything to me. I will be in touch two months before your wedding date to arrange to take the final balance payment. I’ll also double check all the finer details with you, such as any stands or styling accessories you are borrowing, the time of your ceremony and the placement of your cake.
On the big day itself, I’ll usually be at your venue in the morning to deliver and set up your cake perfectly. I’ll leave a cake information form with the planner at the venue, so they have all the details of the flavours, the allergens and any special requirements.
I’ll let you know when everything is safely in place and then it’s just up to you to have the most wonderful day!
That’s it! Three simple steps to your bespoke, contemporary, elegant wedding cake.
If this sounds like you, get in touch now!
Prices for cakes depend on a number of factors, including the size of cake and complexity of design. By choosing a Boutique Bakery cake, you are paying for luxury ingredients, my professionalism and experience to create a delicious work of edible art.
If you are having an intimate wedding but would like a large cake for added impact, I can include dummy cakes in the design, which are iced, but not edible, additional tiers. Floating, metal or clear acrylic spacers are also wonderful for adding impact without hugely increasing your cake budget. Equally, if you have many people to feed but have your heart set on a smaller cake, I can provide cutting cakes that are single tiers, ganached, iced and delivered direct to the kitchen for serving.
Below are some approximate costs for my 2024 wedding cakes, all excluding delivery charge. Please note that these are not the only sizes I offer - and you can also have different tier shapes, such as square or even hexagonal.
Serving guides are for finger portions, measuring approximately 1 x 1 x 5.5”.

I love the look of semi naked cakes - can you make these?
Unfortunately not. I no longer offer naked, semi naked or buttercream covered cakes. All my cakes are layered with swiss meringue buttercream before being covered in a layer of luscious white chocolate ganache, followed by a super thin layer of the finest sugarpaste. If you’re one of those people (like me!) who is haunted by nightmares of inch thick sugarpaste on your birthday cake as a child, don’t worry - you’ll barely notice it’s there!
When should I book in?
As soon as you can! Get in touch as soon as you’ve set a date and we can sort out all the finer detail nearer the date.
Do you deliver and where to?
Yes - I deliver all over the North West and Wales regularly and I’m happier to go further afield if needed. I charge a fee for this service, dependent on distance from the studio. This includes delivery and set up of the cake, so you know everything is just as you want it to be. For more information on my delivery prices, please click here.
Can I collect?
If your cake is two tiers or less you are very welcome to collect it, at your own risk, by appointment only. I would always recommend that I deliver and set up your cake - I have had a lot of practice at driving very slowly around corners!
Can I borrow a cake stand?
Of course - I have an ever-growing collection of stands and plinths and I’d be happy to lend you one. We will discuss the styling of your cake, including stand, at your consultation and I always recommend that couples use one of my stands to maximise the impact of their cake. I charge a £10 hire fee for each item borrowed, plus a security deposit of £50 - 100, depending on the item chosen. This is refunded to you once the stand is returned to me, which I ask to be done the week after your wedding.
Can I have different flavours in each tier?
Absolutely - there is no difference in prices between flavours.
Do you offer favours?
Yes! I offer lots of beautiful edible favour options, including macarons, personalised biscuits and hand-made chocolates. Prices start from £2.50.
My Grandma's fruit cake is a family legend - if she bakes it, will you decorate it?
Unfortunately not - sorry Grandma. I need to ensure that everything that leaves the studio is compliant with food hygiene regulations and the way I do this is by baking it all myself.
How long will my cake last?
All cakes are best eaten on the day but should be eaten within 48 hours. Cakes can be frozen - please just ask me for details.
Can you use fresh flowers on my cake?
I unfortunately will no longer work with fresh flowers, due to the need for significant due diligence to be carried out before they can be arranged on your cake. I am happy to source and use edible flowers on your cake, if you absolutely love the fresh flower look.
I’m allergic to nuts, can I still eat cake?
A number of my recipes are nut-free, however my kitchen does use nuts and I can't guarantee that the cake will be nut-free. This applies to all allergens, for example gluten-free diets and wheat used daily in the studio - there is always a small risk of cross contamination, despite thorough cleaning procedures. Details of all the allergens in my cakes can be found here.
Is there any small print I should know about?
Unfortunately, yes! You can see my terms and conditions here.
What happens to my data?
I will only use your contact details to contact you about your cake - nothing else. More information on my privacy policy can be read here.
