Hi, I’m Nicola!

I used to go to weddings and spend a LOT of my time staring lovingly at a beautiful cake, only to be deeply disappointed when it came to eat it, and I was left with a mouthful of flavourless, dry crumbs. I knew I could do better and, on that simple basis, Boutique Bakery was born.

With a background in art history, I have worked in leading London fine art galleries, writing a book on linocuts along the way! I have been fortunate to combine this experience with training with some of the cake world's premier teachers. This has allowed me to refine my skills and define the 'look' of a Boutique Bakery creation; clean architectural lines and a limited colour palette combined with the softness and fragility of sugar blooms, inspired by my love for my garden.

A wedding cake can be an incredible centrepiece for your wedding day; it can tie together themes, colours and ideas, serve as your dessert and be a mid-evening sugar hit to keep everyone on the dance floor. It’s got to be delicious and it should make people say, 'WOW!' If this sounds like your kind of wedding cake, get in touch and let’s chat about how I can help make your day perfectly memorable.

Whatever the style of your day, your chosen colours, or the size of your celebration, I will work with you to ensure that your cake is the perfect fit. Once you have decided on a Boutique Bakery creation for your wedding, I will invite to you to a design and tasting consultation, where we discuss all aspects of your day, from venue to stationery, flowers to outfits and from there we will jointly design your ideal cake.

Be it a gravity-defying showstopper with floating tiers and draping sugar flowers, a contemporary design with abstract wafer paper forms, or an elegant tower with wrapped tiers, your cake will be a perfectly bespoke addition to your day.

No matter how beautiful your cake may look, all the sugar flowers, tall tiers and sharp edges are irrelevant unless it tastes incredible. Whether you’re a traditional fan of a classic Victoria sponge, love a zesty lemon drizzle or can’t get enough chocolate in your life, my menu has something for you.

All my cakes are freshly home made to order using the finest ingredients, including free range eggs, real butter and fruit preserves, and I never use any artificial flavourings.

A wedding cake is a significant investment and it’s got to be perfect, so I completely understand that you may like to try some cake before booking in. To help you with this, I offer a sample box sample service at key dates throughout the year. This beautifully presented box contains five changing flavours of my choice, sent on a tracked next day delivery service.

Not getting married? That’s ok, a sample box is perfect if you want to try some Boutique Bakery cake for the first time, as a reminder of your wedding day, an anniversary or birthday treat, or just because!
